Hi everyone! It’s Ula here and today I’d like to introduce to you 8 most popular model horse brands. I made a survey on collectors’ groups on Facebook, I asked them which brands they like the most and I based this video on the survey’s results Let’s begin! #1 – Breyer The company is well known overseas and slowly gets more popular in Poland. It was fouded in 1950 Nowadays the company’s based in Chicago, USA. The company produces mostly model horses, but there are some exceptions! Breyer offers a bunch of kid stuff, accesories, dolls etc. They also made few resin models. Breyer’s models are avaiable in different scales. Traditional 1:9, Classic 1:12, Paddock Pals 1:20 Stablemates 1:32 and Mini Whinnies 1:64 Paddock Palls horses are in similar size as Schleich or CollectA. Breyers, especially in larger scales, are empty inside. They also have a little hole drilled usually around the muzzle. These things provide air circulation and model’s lightness. Breyers are made of high quality plastic called cellulose acetate All Breyers are based off artists’ sculptures And If you’re curious who sculpted a particular horse Or what colours did it came out in I reccomend checking identifyyourbreyer.com out! Breyer really IS popular in the USA! The best way to prove that is Breyerfest. A huge three-day event taking place in Kentucky Horse Park for 28 years! I’d love to be there one day… #2 – Schleich This German company is a bit older because Friedrich Schleich had founded it in 1935 The company is more popular in Europe focused to make fun, educational toys for children Their goal is to make very safe, high-quality products so the figurines may be less interesting for realism-loving collectors. Besides the horses, Schleich offers different animals, fantasy creatures or even superheroes! They’re made out of high-quality plastic mixture, such as PVC, ABS, TPE They’re handpainted, just like Breyers. Moreover – they’re sculpted digitally! Vincent of DaVinci Creations had an amazing oppurtunity to work at Schleich Company. And tell his viewers how it was! *link to the full video is in the descripion box* #3 – CollectA Known as Procon until 2010. Nowadays it’s based in Honk Kong And some time ago Breyer’s become its american distributor. The company is defenitely more focused on collectors As they declaim “Our mission is building a natural world in miniature for collectors” Model Horses are sculpted by amazing Deborah McDermott and in result the company has a bunch of beautifull, realistic horses to offer. Besides horses CollectA offers a few accesories, whole range of different animals even the prehistoric ones! CollectA horses are in similar scale as Schleich, although they’re a bit bigger. Same goes with the Deluxe scale which is supposed to be same as Breyer’s Classic though CollectAs are bigger as well, and rather closer to a Tarditional scale. #4 – Copperfox Model Horses This young British company was founded by Becky Benfield and released first models in 2015 Copperfox makes only 1:9 scale horses Similar to Breyer’s Traditional All of them picture national British model horse breeds eg. Connemara pony This is how ISH looks next to Breyer’s Don’t Look Twice she’s a little short From what I know Irish is just a very big horsey Even Zenyatta seems short compared to him But generally speaking Copperfoxes are very similar to Breyer Traditional models. The’re made out of ABS and polycarbonates mixture which provides detailed and high quality castings Just like Breyer or CollectA, they’re based off artists’ scluptures and handpainted with a breathtaking precision Copperfoxes are limited, high-quality models so don’t be suprised by relatively high prices. #5 – Peter Stone The company took its name from its founders – Peter and Elaine Stone and it’s well-known in the USA. Just like Copperfox, Stone horses are limited, high-quality models for collectors. They make their models in three scales. Traditional, similar to Breyer Pebbles, similar to Paddock Palls or Schleich And Chips – similar to Breyer’s Stablemates Peter Stone offers realistically painted horses, fantasy ones or even jewellery #6 – MOJO (Animal Planet) Founded in 2009. They’re also known as Animal Planet due to the cooperation they have. The word means literally “inner magic” And they ambitiously aim to be the best model-making company in the world. I’d like to mention that some of their horses, such as pregnant arabian mare or shire stallion are sculpted by polish artist – Anna Dobrowolska-Oczko of Horse and Bird. #7 – Safari LTD Safari was founded in 1982 by Bernard and Rosemarie Rubel in the USA. Supposedly one day Mr. and Mrs. Rubel saw an endangered spieces list in ZOO and they made the decision to found the company And that became Safari’s philosophy To educate through play and paying attention to the endangered animal spieces. They also have a 1:12 scale horses, similar to Breyer’s Classics. And finally #8 – Papo Animal Figurines This French company makes their models mostly for children, just like Schleich. Their goal is to stimulate children’s imagination and curiosity through safe play The models have also got some realism, and get appreciated by collectors as well. That’s all I’ve got for you today! Let me know which brand you like the most and why! and if you want me to make a video about less popular companies. And remember: There are no better or worse models. No better or worse collections. It all depends on your own taste and preferences So enjoy this hobby and make your collections the way you want the to be. Doesn’t matter if you’ve got 200 Schleichs or 3 Breyers. See ya next time!
