Guillermo Rodriguez – Horse Jobs are Real Jobs

August 18, 2019

I am here at the Middleburg Training Center. I am Guillermo Rodriguez. I am a flat jockey and I’m also assistant trainer for Neil Morris. I am originally from Puerto Rico. I have been in the United States 9 years. Actually in West Virginia and Virginia, 4 years. My Dad is a trainer in Puerto Rico, so I grew up on the race track. When I was 16 years old, I went to the jockey school. I was there for two years, in the jockey school, and then I came to the United States. My favorite part is to get the horse ready for the race. That gets me excited. I always tell Neil, OK, this is the goal. Let’s do it. Horse racing is my passion. Also, it’s my job. I love it.
