in light of recent scrutiny on the industry the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission is taking one more step to be transparent by making details about deaths of horses publicly available Alix 18s Michael Ende joins us now in the studio with more on these efforts yeah good morning Conroy the mortality reviews section on the Commission’s website lays out the details of six horse deaths that Kentucky tracks this year you can see the names of the horse owner and trainer listed plus information on the horses medical history officials with the Commission acknowledge 2019 was a bad year with respect to safety so far this racing season 30 horses have died at the Santa Anita track in California now horse deaths in Kentucky are down compared to last year but as a whole the industry has been plagued by bad headlines and increased skepticism we have to respond to public concern you know we can’t just say nothing to see here move along we have to we have to foster public confidence that we our response are responsible in our stewardship of these horses and dr.
