Hi, I’m Kelli on behalf of Expert Village,
I’m going to show you my tips and techniques to saddle your horse with the western saddle.
So after you placed your horses saddle onto its back, you want to make sure that it is
straight and your pad underneath is straight. You would never want your saddle to be too
far back. That would be really uncomfortable for you and for the horse. You also don’t’
want it crooked nor do you want it leaning from one side or the other. First of all,
it is going to throw you off balance when you are riding, it is also going to throw
your horse off balance when you are riding. So if you just take it, just kind of straighten
the saddle pad out, you just want to make sure that you can take a look or you can take
a feel on the front and see if you have a equal amount of saddle pad on each side of
your horse. You want to make sure that it is sitting straight, take a look and make
sure the saddle is sitting straight down the middle of the horses back. It is not leaning
one way or another. If it is, you can kind of adjust it as you need but you want to make
sure that it is sitting square on the horse. It is sitting level and it is not too far
back or too far forward. This would ensure that you have a nice, safe, balanced ride
and your horse would be the most comfortable.
