How to Make a Dala Horse – Cutting the Legs & Sanding vs. Knife Cuts

August 21, 2019

You can get it fairly fairly smooth
with the knife in fact, the knife cut is much smoother than any sanding you’ll get. Bbut you’re going to see the tool marks and some people prefer
the sanded look. Personally I don’t much like sanding. This is the block that’s cut on the bandsaw and this is also cut on a bandsaw here, like so. But I don’t advise
anybody but an experienced woodworker with a bandsaw to to make these edge
cuts like that because it is a little tricky. But with the legs what you do is
you drill – the front legs I drill a hole and then I’ll take a hacksaw and I’ll
cut the legs like that. And the back legs you could just you can eliminate the
hole if you want to just use the hacksaw
