Madison’s “see blue.” Story: Studying in the Horse Capital of the World

September 5, 2019

Hi, I’m Madison Scott. I’m a sophomore at
UK. I’m from Austin, Texas and I’m in the equine management program. I came to UK really for the horse industry.
Kentucky has such a unique experience for exactly what I want to do with the equine
management program being situated here in Lexington in the horse capitol of the world.
And all these horse farms being right outside the city and so close to campus has opened
up so many opportunities for me. So I’m working here at Three Chimneys, which
is one of the most prestigious horse farms in the whole country really. I’ve been in
contact with Three Chimneys since I was about ten-years-old. I started writing them fan
mail when Smarty Jones, who won the Kentucky Derby in 2004, came here. So by the time I
came here freshman year they actually reached out to me and asked if I would like an internship
for the spring which led into my internship here during the summer. I’m so happy to be here. What I always tell
my friends is that even if it wasn’t for the horse industry I would still be having a fantastic
time here at UK. Which really just speaks volumes about how much I’ve really settled
into the school. I love the classes, my professors, my friends here….I’ve just completely settled
in and gotten use to everything. Just love my college experience so far. You’ll look
good in blue.
