Ride With Pride Horse Camp Pt. 2

August 23, 2019

Reporter: WELCOME BACK. WE ARE TAKING A LOOK AT STUDENTS FROM THE RIDE WITH PRIDE HORSE CAMP IN AUBURN. 25 YEARS, AND THIS IS SUCH A GREAT OCCASION. LIEUTENANT BORDEN WITH THE PLACER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, HOW IS IT GOING? AWESOME TODAY. GOT A GREAT TURNOUT, OVER 40 KIDS HERE. Reporter: SCHOOL IS OUT AND SUMMER IS HERE. THE KIDS ARE HERE AND EXCITED AND READY TO LEARN. TELL US WHY YOU STARTED THIS CAMP 25 YEARS AGO. WE WANTED TO USE THE ANIMALS AS A WAY TO INTERACT, MAKE LAW ENFORCEMENT MORE APPROACHABLE, AND USING ANIMALS TO DO THAT. IT GETS THE KIDS TO COME UP AND IT’S IMPORTANT. Reporter: WE ARE SEEING KIDS HERE AT THEIR STATIONS. ONE STATION IS GROOMING. I JUST SAW A CHILD CLEANING THE HOVS. HOOFS. WE HAVE TO BRUSH THEM, MAKE THEM LOOK NICE OUT IN PUBLIC. Reporter: I SAW A FEW GIRLS RUNNING TO EACH OTHER WHEN THEY SAW THEIR FRIEND HERE, EMBRACING IN A WARM HUG. IT’S AWESOME TO SEE THEM HAVING A GOOD TIME AND LEARNING ABOUT THE HORSES. Reporter: I’M GOING TO SADDLE UP NOW. I’VE BEEN ON A HORSE BEFORE, BUT TALK ME THROUGH THIS. GREAT. RIGHT HERE. JUST STEP UP ON THE MOUNTING BLOCK AND PUT YOUR LEFT FOOT IN THE STIRRUP. SWING YOUR RIGHT LEG OVER, GET HOLD OF THE REIN HERE. Reporter: THANK YOU VERY MUCH. RIDE WITH PRIDE, BACK TO YOU AS
