FOR THE ROOM SAYING THEY WANTED HER TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS SAFE. I’M MELANIE MICHAEL LAKE LAND, 8 ON YOUR SIDE. FOR HORSE OWNERS IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE DORIAN THERE IS A SAFE HAVEN IN THE BAY. 8 ON YOUR SIDE VICTORIA PRICE JOINS US FROM THE FLORIDA STATE FAIRGROUNDS AND THEY HAVE ROOM FOR FIVE HUNDRED HORSE THERE IS, RIGHT? Reporter: YES. JEN, THEY DO. THERE’S 40 HERE SO FAR TONIGHT AND THEY COULD CONTINUE TO TRICKLE IN TONIGHT. IT IS EASIER TO HAUL HORSES BECAUSE IT IS COOLER AND LESS TRAFFIC. KATHY AND HER FAMILY ARE TAKING A BREAK FROM RIDEING TO RIDE OUT HURRICANE DORIAN IN TAMPA. SHE HAULED IN HER HORSES FROM EASTERN POLK COUNTY TO THE FAIRGROUNDS MONDAY AFTERNOON. WE FIGURED IT EVERYBODY FROM WEST PALM HEADED THIS WAY WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A SPOT WITH THE HORSES. THE FAIRGROUNDS EQUESTRIAN CENTER, ONE OF THE LARGEST IN THE STATE IS EXPECTING ONE HUNDRED EVACUATED HORSES. DURING HURRICANE IRMA EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE 471 STALLS WERE FULL. WE ARE ACCEPTLING HORSES 24/7. THE CONCRETE BLOCK STALLS PROVIDE PEACE OF MIND FOR TIFFANY, HER DAUGHTER AND HORSE COMPETED IN TAMPA AND STICKING AROUND BEFORE IT IS SAFE TO HEAD BACK HOME TO SEMINAL COUNTY. THE TREES ARE IN STANDING WATER, WORRISOME BUT THE TREES WILL COME DOWN. THEY WANT THE HORSES INSIDE SAFE. BLACKMON SAYS STRANGERS ARE FRIENDS TEAMING UP TO TAKE CARE OF THE HORSES THAT THEY WAIT TO SEE WHAT DORIAN MAY BRING. IT IS SCARY AND WE WILL TRY TO WAIT IT OUT AND BE PATIENT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. AND FLORIDA AND SOME OF THE SURROUNDING STATES HAVE WAVED INTERSTATE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS FOR HORSES AND OTHER LIVESTOCKS.
