TALKING MORE ABOUT NIPSEY HUSSLE AND HIS CONTRIBUTIONS. PETER: CONTROVERSY THIS MORNING AT SANTA ANITA PARK. ANOTHER HORSE HAS DIED. KANDISS CRONE IS LIVE AT THE RACETRACK WITH THE LATEST. THIS IS THE 23RD HORSE DEATH HERE AT THE RACETRACK. DESPITE THE LATEST INCIDENT, RACE TRACK OFFICIALS INSIST THAT THE TRACK IS SAFE. ANY TIME SOMETHING GOES AWRY, WE ARE ALL SADDENED BY IT. GETTING OFF TO A GLOOMY START AT THE SANTA ANITA RACETRACK FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF YET ANOTHER HORSE. CELL PHONE VIDEO CAPTURE THE MOMENTS TWO HORSES FELL IN SUNDAY’S RACE. ONE WAS NOT HURT, BUT, SADLY, ANOTHER SUFFERED A BROKEN LEG AND HAD TO BE PUT DOWN. THIS IS THE 23RD HORSE DEATH AT THE RACETRACK SINCE DECEMBER. NEARLY A MONTH LONG CLOSURE TO IMPLEMENT NEW REGULATIONS AND INSPECT THE TRAP. DOING ALL THE THINGS WE ARE DOING. PUTTING ALL THE PROCEDURES IN PLACE AND STILL HAVING THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED. A VARIETY OF FACTORS IN EACH OF THE FALLS. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PINPOINT ONE SPECIFIC PROBLEM. SIX ON THE GRASS. SEVEN ON THE DIRT DURING RACING. ALL DIFFERENT AREAS DIFFERENT PLACES. WE CANNOT FIND ANY ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO REEVALUATE THEIR PROCEDURES AND PRACTICES. WE DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR THAT THERE IS ONE. THE NUMBERS ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN ANYBODY WANTS. THE GROUP SAYS IT CALLS ON GOVERNOR NEWSOM TO URGENTLY FORM AN INDEPENDENT PANEL TO INVESTIGATE THE TRAINING AND PRACTICES IN CALIFORNIA RACING. IF THE BOARD DOES NOT TAKE EVERY POSSIBLE ACTION TO PROTECT THE HORSES, RACING SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE. AS FOR THE NEXT RACE, THAT IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY.

  1. Greedy, selfish, egotistical horse racing people. That includes, owners of the track, owners of the horses, people in the stands, etc. If you have a connection to horse racing you are a part of the problem. Where money is involved, horses suffer.

  2. Seven on the dirt, six on the turf, the rest at workouts (training track or main track?). It is not the track.

  3. They shouldn’t have a transition from turf and dirt. The track needs to be revamped. Looks like the white horse veered out trying to stay on the grass because it quickly went to dirt.
