WHY I’LL START AGGRESSIVE SKATING

October 29, 2019

Hey guys, it’s me Tiago the french inline skater and today, I have a little something to tell you I’m gonna change my skating style I’ll start aggressive skating Why? Now I have to admit, but I absolutely love watching aggressive skating videos on YouTube Nick Lomax, Eugen Enin, Montre Livingston, CJ Wellsmore and Antony Pottier who just won the Winterclash contest Congratulations. It was amazing This is just mind-blowing what they all do like oh my god, and this is really giving me the envy to Give aggressive skating another try because when I started on skating After my first day when I tried to do inline hockey (and it was a huge mess) and I tried to to do aggressive skating because I love it. I like I like how it looks I like almost everything about it. Then I quickly moved to over disciplines because I don’t like being Stuck in a single discipline to me inline skating is much more than that and I would love to try all the categories genres, subgenres of inline skating and Now after watching all of these things like the winter crash contest. What happened a few days ago. I didn’t watch everything about it because I don’t know I was just only seeing little bits on Instagram and from the little things that I watched It really motivated me to want to Do aggressive skating! as I said in the beginning of this video I’m gonna change my skating style. it doesn’t mean that I’ll stop doing freestyle skating you know because I absolutely love like I love freestyle skating! and I will not stop doing slalom and This leads me to another point that is about a new source / a bigger source of inspiration to me. that is in 2 words: Mushroom blading so if you don’t know them very group of Canadian inline skaters who have a very unique way to skate And I don’t think there are words strong enough to express how Amazing what they do really is like Joey McGarry, Leon Basin and Todd Shaun Unwin from Shop Task I don’t know if he’s a full member of the mushroom blading But it doesn’t really matter for me because either way He is a huge inspiration to me like everybody in the mushroom blaming crew at the same time They all do amazing things I’m really obsessed with it like I really want to try this style because to me it’s kind of a mix of everything! like all the in a skating styles, genres and everything into a single one And I find it just beautiful you know, and I want to try it out Every time I watch their videos on YouTube because yes we do have a youtube channel and yes I do recommend you to subscribe to them because what they do is gold like “oh wow” so I’ve been watching more and more of their videos and from what I’ve seen they have an aggressive skating background, so this just added a Layer of reasons for me to try aggressive skating you know; so yeah now I really want to do it I’m gonna do this I have a pair of aggressive skates the USD Franky Morales 2’s, I bought about a few years ago when I started inline skating and Well now but I grew more in my head now, I think it wasn’t the best idea to buy these skates, When I started on skating, because ,one: these skates are made out of carbon fiber and for a beginner, Especially for someone who is a noob when it comes to aggressive skating (me), because yes, I don’t know almost anything about aggressive skating it’s it may not be the best choice and they have super super fancy materials, and I can’t take real advantage of it for aggressive skating Other reason is that I bought them in the smallest size USD can make for this type of boots that is size 39 and my actual skate size now is 38 so Every time I try to skate with them, because yes, I still try to skatee with them my feet move inside the boot and it’s kind of annoying especially when I’m trying to like jump because my heel goes up It’s not the best experience. I know these skates can do a lot more But since we are not the right size for me. I can’t really have fun with them for too long and Yeah, so what I think I’ll do is go out buy a new pair of inline skates well, try to guess what skate I’ll buy next! they will not be in carbon fibre. They’ll be in plastic They’ll be in size 38 and will not have removable liners so it will be a unimold design try to guess! plastic, size 38 and non removable liners! About the next videos you’re gonna see me learn the basics of aggressive skating and fall quite a lot because I know I’m gonna fall x) And I probably know that I am gonna laugh quite a lot as well, so That’s good! So I hope you enjoyed this little message I have for you and don’t forget to subscribe to see the next Episodes and please help me make inline skating more popular, by sharing this video to your friends You can change everything! Think about it! alright guys, see you in the next Episode

  1. As I told you months and months ago T, I started on aggressive skating when I was a teenager in the late 90s.

I've been wanting to get back into it too, but freestyle and slalom was a gateway drug to get me back onto skates.
I think I'm going to purchase the USD Aeon (Carlos Pianowski) so that I can get back into it, but I'm sure I will be getting some Seba SX or CJs in future.

Nice to see you like Shaun Unwin, Leon and the rest of the Mushroom team too…. And Nick Lomax, from my city and a huge inspiration.

    Almost 12k subscribers, Soooo close

  2. Aaaah! I always wanted to try agressive skating but I'm too scared to start. I never been in the hospital so I don't want to risk it. But maybe because I'm too careful

  3. I LOVE Mushroom Blading.. Been subscribed for a while, I love not just the skills, but the videos, the humour, the editing, the photography, the style, the people, the life..
    They're awesome.
I'm like you. I want to try it all. My next skating setup will be the Wizard setup, when I've saved up enough to buy them, ha.. Good luck Tiago.

  4. I was just wondering if you ever thought about aggressive. And here I was thinking about challenging you to a slolom style trick challenge

  5. Also, if you like the mushroom bladers, check out the tim hortons skate video on vimeo. Colin and those guys are super influenced by them and the whole video is mine blowing.

  6. That's awesome. You're gonna enjoy it now that you're more of an experienced skater. Can't think of what skates you're getting but I'm looking forward to see you progress.
And What!!! Mushroom Skating?!?! I just started watching their solo sessions and their style is so unique (a mix of everything). Also, I'm digging their style of videos. Very cinematic! I can't stop watching! Keep it up Thiago.

  8. I absolutely love your passion for skating, but also your eagerness to share it with others. I love the videos you do as well as your enthusiasm in each one. Excited to see your progress!

  9. I confess, when I heard you say “switching” I got a bit worried. But then you said “Mushroom blading” and all my worries disappeared. I believe that this is the way to go for you in regards to branching out and I agree to not being able to categorize it. We all just call it “Mushroom” style (as far as I hear). I’m very fortunate to have met Leon and would like to say I’m a avid follower of the Shop Task crew, after all I frequent their store here in Toronto and hang out with the group there. As for new boots, I’m guessing an USD Aeon, probably one of the new 4 that came out. Sorry Tiago, “unibody” kinda gave it away. They are wonderful skates though! Many of the riders here use it. I use the term riders to appeal to your Air Gear nostalgia. We do tend to skate up a storm when we all hang out, many a person comes and watches.

  10. Comecei a patinar a uns meses e logo achei seu canal, fiquei feliz em saber que já morou no Brasil e que fala português! 🙂 Parabéns pelo trabalho, seu conteúdo é incrível e tem muita personalidade 😀

  11. Try fillinf the empty air in the boot with tissue. I haven't tried it but it seems like it might work.

  12. Skate guess: SX2? (redemption for the poor fitting CJs from a while back?)

Also MB is so amazing. Their YT channel is underappreciated. My favorite mini-series is the "Family Sessions" with Todd.

  13. Get It Tiago!, just started as well, i was looking for something like this! hope to progress with you brotha!~

  14. I have the Trigger Rainbow Julien Cudot pro with create originals og frame 57mm flat. And K2 fatty pro with modified xsjado 2.0 soul plate, Kizer level 3 powerblading frame and kaltik wild yokes 64mm flat. Tiago, trust me, go flat. You skating full rocker, anti-rocker will feel like skating on skis.

  15. Awesome! Everything you said is like reading my mind. I don't know how anybody can watch Mushroom blading and not become at least aggressive-curious. My agg setup is ready, just waiting for the snow to melt. Want to start learning too…

  16. Ayy!! Welcome to the aggressive skating family! I transitioned to aggressive from urban style. I regret nothing!

  17. Remember, practice the stall before you try to grind it. Once you can jump onto a rail or ledge and hold the trick statically, the next step is to add the motion and momentum to grind.

Good luck, stay safe, pad up (wrist guards are important!) and most importantly, have fun.

And come check out /r/rollerblading, there is a strong aggressive community there.

  18. Good luck by the way! I do a bit of aggressive and just made a little practice rail to help me develop some. Doing some of the grinds on a waxed PVC pipe over grass is easy and fun and not as sketchy as a pipe at the park when you're learning for any other newbies here by the way. Again, good luck!

  19. Pls pls pls could you make a video about which wheels are the best for slides? Love ur videos btw and good luck with aggressives.

  20. Hey Tiago. Could you please tell me your thoughs on the Hyper Concrete +G wheels? I saw you use them in one of your videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpROdkIsdxI. I´m planning buying those for urban skating. Do they last? Thanks, greetings from Mexico!

  21. Hah, kinda heading that way also. Was inspired to start skating again 2 years ago mostly by the PintoPony and Mushroom Blading channels but at the same time, it was a long time since I last skated, so I was like "hmm, that stuff is cool but it's for other people not me". However, 2 years later, more and more I feel called to ride on bits of ramp and street furniture etc.

  22. Hey Tiago, interesting thoughts! But are you interested in trying out slider wheels? 😀 maybe slide around?? there are no youtuber that properly talks about sliding. especially the wheels required. i've been searching a lot. and i wonder if you can do urban freestyle with slider wheels

  23. I have 55mm wheels on my blades and I was wondering if I could go up in size to like 56 or 57? Please anyone let me know!

  24. Nice I started Agressive skating last autumn, gonna do alot more this spring/summer too….
Im riding USd skates with Kizers Trimax 110 frame with 100 mm wheels so there´s som room for grinds, im also inspired by Mushroom blading and The Lino Life.. i bought the Kizer frame. cuz I wanted more speed for freeskating/powerblading… but I also ride a "normal" 58/60 mm frame.
Gonna be fun to follow ure progress, I enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work!
    Cheers!

  25. Hey Tiago, thanks for this video, not only did you introduce me to mushroom blading, but you've inspired me to do the opposite of what you're doing. I got into roller skating at my local leisure centre a couple of years ago on quads, tried a bit of derby last year but in December last year switched my quads for aggressive inlines. I've been going to my local skate park (rush) for a couple of months and I'm progressing quickly. I'm going to continue on aggressive skates but I will also start slalom. I watched your video on recommended skates and found some seba FR 1's on sale, I tried them out tonight and they are very special, so light and connected to my feet. I'm just waiting for cones to arrive in the post now 😀 thanks dude

  26. Pourquoi tu ne fais pas de vidéos en français car ça permettrai de peut être agrandir la communauté française de roller. Je comprends bien l'anglais mais tout le monde n'est pas comme moi. Mais sinon tu fais du super boulot. Continue comme ça tu iras long 😊

    Peace

  28. Been watching your videos, I've brought aggressive skates couple years ago and they just sat there. But I also never inline skated so kind of got discourage to even try. Still am but I do want to put them to use! Think it would be still a good idea to start learn on the skates since I have them? I know it will be hard..

  29. This is awesome news! I've always had aggressive rollerblades, i don't know how to do tricks and grind and stuff but im gonna try soon
